October 2021 Community Updates

The weather this past October was unseasonably warm. Therefore, roadside weed eating continued for longer than normal. Additionally, the warm weather allowed for road scraping and maintenance before the onset of winter weather. A community picnic table and swing have been also moved down to the community pond on Ben’s Bend for everyone to enjoy—if you have the time, make sure to enjoy the last of the beautiful fall colors and warm weather!

October Road Maintenance

In addition to regular “maintenance” road scraping, four loads of road bond were spread in October to prepare for future inclement winter weather. Two loads were put down in Zone 4 on Katie’s Lane and Megan’s Loop (see Amber Ranches Gravel Zones Map below). Two additional gravel loads were spread on Amber Drive in Zone 5.

November Projects

November’s work will primarily focus on clearing ditches, culverts, and roads of leaves and other debris. This prevents clogging and prevents rainfall from washing out gravel roads. Additional ongoing maintenance projects will include autumn leaf removal, and winter road preparation. Winter Weather Preparation

Please remember to fill your gas and oil tanks before inclement weather arrives.
Snow, ice, and cold days with little sunshine cause our gravel roadways to become
wet, soft, and muddy, thus making travel more difficult. The more traffic, the worse
the roads become. If possible, please avoid the use of two-wheel drive vehicles
during inclement weather to avoid becoming stranded on steep mountain inclines and remind your guests to do the same. Lastly, please try to avoid major construction projects during winter months, as heavy trucks and increased traffic will further damage wintry roadways.
